Bluegrass Festival Coming

Bluegrass festival returns for 9th year

TITUS, Ala--A September 26th event will offer attendees a chance to relax in the shade and enjoy live bluegrass music. Barbecue, arts and crafts, children’s activities and door prizes will also be part of the ninth annual Titus Bluegrass Festival to be held on the grounds of the Titus Community Center.
A large turnout is expected this year, according to Tom Hinton, president of the festival committee. “We’re looking forward to another fun and successful bluegrass festival,” he said. “We’ll also have some of the best barbecue around, as well as homemade cakes and cookies and other concessions.”
Family-oriented fun and entertainment will be the order of the day. Banjos, mandolins, guitars and bass fiddles will take center stage from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. This year’s acts will include Southern Gentlemen, East Wind, the Bluegrass Biscuits, and Kelli Johnson and Friends.
“The location is comfortable in a well-shaded area,” he added. “People only have to bring their own lounge chairs. And, no alcohol or pets are permitted.”
Admission for the day is $5 for adults and children under 12 get in free. The festival is a rain or shine event.
The Titus Community Center is located approximately 10 miles north of Wetumpka on U.S. Highway 231, then north on County Road 29. Proceeds will be used for continued restoration and improvements to the Titus Community Center, which was built in 1928.
The community center is used for quarterly potluck suppers and community meetings, such as wedding receptions, church parties, birthday and anniversary celebrations, and many more. It is also available for rent for reunions, receptions, parties and other gatherings.
“This festival would not be possible without support from local businesses and community members,” Hinton said.

Titus Bluegrass Festival

If you enjoy listening to bluegrass, old-time country and gospel music; are a picker that loves a good jam session; or prefer a down-home, small town, family-orientated atmosphere, then mark September 29 on your calendar. You can find all of this and more at the Titus Bluegrass Festival at the Titus Community Center.
Visitors will be entertained by several bluegrass bands, and also have a chance to browse arts and crafts booths and purchase lunch. In addition, attendees can buy event T-shirts and cookbooks.
The family event features a schedule of continuous music that runs from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. There will be lots of food, crafts and an antique car display, so grab your lawn chair and come on out!
Proceeds from the festival are used for continued restoration and improvements to the Titus Community Center. “The center sees a good bit of use. It’s where we have quarterly potluck suppers and community meetings,” said Tom Hinton, the festival organizer. “We’ve made a lot of improvements over the past several years. We’ve put a new roof on the center, and also maintain and manicure the grounds.”
Admission is $5.00 for adults and children under 12 get in free.
